Not enough counter-arguments (Refutation – You reject the counter-argument by showing that it is mistaken or unlikely or unimportant…… OR Concession – You allow that there is some truth in the counter-argument and qualify your original argument to take account of it.) You can't just mention is you need to deal with the counter-claim.
Avoid: generalizations (all scientists), black and white, inconsistency
Not enough independent thinking!!!!!!! Just copy what others have said instead. This is not a research paper.
You must be aware of your own biases and thinking.
Use a variety of examples ( personal, media, diff cultures) All must be relevant to the essay.
Way too many spelling and grammar mistakes. This is the first sign for the grader that you are not very bright.
Need to arrive at some kind of answer or conclusion by the end. Demonstrate progression!!!!!
Never show that everything is relative.
At the end of the essay you are wiser than you were at the beginning.
First paragraph the student must pick 2 Areas of Knowledge to examine. Preferably opposing or different AOKs. Very IMPORTANT!
